I own a Nexus 2.1. The remote control works fine will all drivers 
versions I've tested, except the NEWSTRUCT branch.
Currently, there is no LIRC support for NEWSTRUCT & Nexus remote 
control. I'll look into this topic as soon as my time permits...

Did you compile and insmod lirc_dvb.o (.../driver/lirc)?
(It's easy to forget this when you switch to a new driver.)
