[vdr] when does -a option start ?

hi list

i try to find out when the -a option of vdr ist started ?
on my vdr it starts when i start a dvd, but not when i go to a ac3-channel.
the message that a ac2 thread is started in /var/log/messages, but the
script i call with the -a option is not started.

can any1 tell me why ?
