Powermanagement, especially the ACPI-Suspend-States aren't very well
supported using linux. But you could try a software suspend patch, that
doesn't need apm or acpi.

It still has some problems with graphiccards and x11 and it's worth a try.
But till linux doesn't support these things out of the box, I see no need
to extend vdr to provide something especially for this.
