I don't know, but probably yes in Windows.

1) and 2) YES if we programmed suitable software. There is already
teletext subtitles project for VDR 1.0.4, and it seems to work fine. For
1.1.x there is not yet a plugin. For dvb subtitling we need to create a
project, I volunteer to do some programming & testing, but due to lack of
time I wont take the project lead responsibility. I think dvbsubs project
is a good start, but needs to be adapted to VDR.
