Is allready done in the mplayer plugin (for 1.1.x vdr-devel version). It's 
called "slave mode" which means mplayer is controlled by the vdr-plugin, 
which get's it commands from the remote controll.

Get the latest plugin from stefans homepage and take a look in the 
readme/manual of the mplayer PLUGIN.

Feel free to join us on #LinuxDVB @ Efnet. Even Mplayer/MP3-Stefan is 
attending sometimes there.
