Well, I don't know anything about this PTS things, too. I just
compared the sources and tried both version.

I'll report later ...

Another problem I found: one old recording, which I know that it
have good AC3 track, doesn't plays at all. The console is flooded
with "unknown substreamtype". Even if I change the code to assume
AC3 substream by default, I don't get a smooth audio stream.
The special about this is, that's the only DD recording I have
which wasn't recorded on Pro7.
