Unfortunately they seem part of the entire package, and I have trouble
compiling transcode on anything other than linux (FreeBSD port fails for
example).

Same goes for mpegtools (or even dvb-mpegtools), which won't compile on
FreeBSD.

That's why I'm looking for a standalone application that doesn't depend
on a "parent" program.
