<off-topic>
ASROCK K7VT2 requires ACPI (activate in Kernel config). Unfortunately
ACPI-Support in current Kernel 2.4.x sources is broken/incomplete...
but give it a try first. If your machine doesn't power down completely
even if ACPI is compiled in, get the recent ACPI-Kernel Patch from http://sourceforge.net/projects/acpi

After applying the ACPI-Patch the POWER_BUTTON works as expected, if
events are set in /etc/acpi; watch messages in syslog for further clues.

so long,
Lars
