[vdr] Keyboard problem

I don't seem to be able to control vdr from a keyboard when running thru the runvdr script, however I can do it when executing vdr myself from the prompt. When executed thru ./runvdr I press the keyboard and the characters is displayed on the screen rather than beeing captured by vdr. 

What could this problem be?
