Hi,
If you only are interested in the osd, something like the 
graphlcd-plugin does might be a solution.

The graphlcd controls small lcd that are connected via the 
parallel port.

AS far as I know there are only some parts of the displayinfo 
sent to this display yet (current channel etc.),
but it probably is possible to implement menus too.
