[vdr] VDR File Format / DVD-R ?

I just wondered what kind of file format does VDR write its recordings
to ?

I am thinking of having my VDR running Linux 100% of the time and (via
the network connection) then copy the files from the VDR box to my main
PC which has a DVD-R on it.

I'd like to be able to permanently keep certain VDR recordings on a DVD.
