As we both guessed it was caused by a couple experimental patches, one
of them on top of the DVB drivers and one for VDR.

I unpacked 1.2.4 and began applying the patches one by one until I found
the culprits. Since I was not using the teletext/subtitles plugins
anymore, as the subtitle format used by Digital+ seems to be different
to those implemented by the plugins, I didn't apply any of their
patches. It's the risk of using the incremental diffs for VDR, after so
much time without a vanilla tree you forget all the patches you have in.
