Yeah, athcool is nice unless you're using a dxr3. I've got very choppy
video/audio when I run 'athcool on'.
Autospeedstep (http://gpsdrive.kraftvoll.at/speedstep.shtml) is useful
if there's a working /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/performance (or
throttling if you change the source). Unfortunately my duron hasn't
either :(
