1. Demux with PVAStrumento 2.0.23 (the latest one that worked ok to me) 
into a *.mp2 file.
2. Re-encode with lame using --mp2input option.

Will try with the newest PVAStrumento once it's labeled as a release 
(currently v2.1 pre11).

Sorry, don't know how to do it all under Linux. I think PVAStrumento 
command-line version works ok under wine, but I haven't tried myself.

MPEG-1 layer 2, usually 160/192/256 kbps (my experience).
