We had this topic in Hoerzu EPG Thread. Better then dsmcc plugin is the 
mhp-plugin. It has the goal to do what you want. Further there is a 
mheg5-java implementation that runs on linux. I tried it with mhp stuff 
from ard/zdf/rtl but it didn't work.
