No. Just use the current "Timer" entry for local timers and a plugin with a 
"Remote Timer" entry for creating timers on the server. Synchronizing EPG is 
already possible with Streamdev-plugin. So the plugin could use most of the 
VDR-core code but send the timers by SVDRP instead of storing it locally.

Maybe Sascha Volkenandt can implement this into the streamdev-plugin ...
