I have a perl script which does more than this. It is a kind of fsck for
the VDR tree. It checks for empty files, for missing description files,
files on the secondary directories with no symbolic links to them and
for links that point to nirwana. When using the -F (Fix) option it
searches on the secondary directories for maching files and recreates
the links. So it is easy to rename something and the links are recreated
correctly. Except for the resume file all my data files reside on the
secondary directories with all files corresponding to a recording within
the same filesystem.

It is specially written for my environment so you may have to modify it.
And of course, you use it at your own risk. ;-)

If interested I can send it to you.

Emil
