Next step for softdevice X11 out should be going the OpenGl direction.
To my knowledge OpenGL should be possible without X11 (mesa, miniglx).

So I'll try to compare my previous G550 with current radeon 9200 (_no_ SE).

Numbers are from glxgears:

Card:           G550                            Radeon9200
resolution:     16bit   32bit                   32bit
default size:   700fps  100fps  100%(sys.50%)   2100fps 35%(sys.8%)
1280x1024:      350fps   51fps  100%(sys.50%)    160fps  3%(sys.--)
