Afaik /proc/bus/input/devices exists with kernel 2.6 only.
Anyway, evtest will show the name of the device, too.

No way. If you use a remote control which does not transmit RC5 code you
get *nothing*. Sorry, you have to try different codes on your remote.
Philips codes are a good choice.

The remote plugin did not receive anything from the driver because
- remote control does not send RC5 codes
- ir receiver does not work properly
- receiver connected to the wrong full-featured card [*]
[*] If there are two or more FF cards, the driver will only receive
events from the last card.
