after a couple of more testing days I can tell it is not so bad:

I have now been using VDR with optbuf2 patch for four days, and got
this problem only once.  So the problem is not so bad as I first
feared.  The result of the optbuf2 is really a smoother playback.
Sometimes the image freezes for a while, still, but mostly it is OK.
These freezes are short, and I do not know whether the problem in
those freezes is actually vdr-xine-0.5.0 (I'll try that with
--verbose=2 to check as soon as I'll have time) not been given enough
processing time or something.
