But if you request a channel from another satellite via transfer mode, this error message (device 1 has no lock, can't attach receiver!) comes because the timeout (5s) defined in device.c is not enough, when the dish has to rotate. I have changed device.c line 26 to: #define TUNER_LOCK_TIMEOUT 100000 // ms So the timeout is now 100s which should be long enough for steerable dishes. The only disadvantage I could see is that as long the dish is rotating, vdr doesn't react anymore because it is waiting for a lock. You could also time the rotor and see how long it takes to go from one horizon to another. I think that to switch from Astra 19.2 to BskyB 28.x takes about 10-12 seconds on my dish.
Well, it takes a lot more when I go, say, from hotbird to hispasat.
I'm using a linear actuator. The previous one lasted 10 years, this one I bough in an online store and it cost me around 35€, plus the same amount in shipping :-(I have given up on rotors - when mine breaks I will buy two more disks and a DiSEqC splitter box which will cost about 75% the price of a decent rotor.
