Cedric : this means recompiling the kernel with the "Virtual 
frame-buffer" option checked (or maybe compiled as a module, and the 
module should be loaded before running VDR).
Exact steps to compile the kernel with that option depends on your 
kernel version. Please provide it if you're stuck.
If you don't want to recompile the kernel, go the streamdev way. Others 
could help you with that (just ask specific questions on this same ML, 
within a new thread, because streamdev users won't read this one).

Use vdradmin (a web interface to VDR) to control timers. Or simply use 
SVDRP.
