BTW Can someone explain again, how HDTV should be able with a normal
budget card (like the SkyStar2)? As I have seen so far, watching a HDTV
live-stream is impossible, so it is all about recording such a stream, and
then using a fitting player (like mplayer or VLC) to view it, right?
Right, without a projector you probably have no chance to really enjoy
HDTV. There is no point in recording a HDTV program and then scale it down
with mplayer to watch it on a regular TV set but for academic reasons. :-)
But I never got that to work, is there anything special to do? I have VDR
1.3.15 with the HDTV patch. And what exectly was the reason, why this is
not possible with a FF card?
AFAIK, the FF card (so far) cannot be stopped from creating a TV picture
from the mpeg2 stream coming from the satellite tuner. So if a HDTV program
is tuned in, the FF card has problems. As budget cards do not decode the
mpeg2, they only write the stream to the disk.
