That's a perfect candidate for an OSD configurable option IMHO. Not
everybody compiles the source themselves. :-)
Come to think of it; even if VDR would use UTF-8 internally, it would
still need
to convert character sets. If the EPG data does not contain the
character set
used, this would need to either be guessed or be configured on a per-channel
basis.
You could be watching a German channel that uses EPG data encoded in one
character set, and then a Russian channel in another one.
