since I got an Hauppauge HVR-4000 I have the problem that at system boot
the cx88_alsa is the first card.

I am under gentoo and I have my dvb initscript which say :

depend() {
            after alsasound

And in /etc/modules.d/alsa I have :

alias char-major-116 snd
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
alias /dev/mixer snd-mixer-oss
alias /dev/dsp snd-pcm-oss
alias /dev/midi snd-seq-oss
alias char-major-116 snd
alias char-major-14 soundcore snd_cards_limit=3
alias snd-card-0 snd-via82xx
alias sound-slot-0 snd-via82xx
alias snd-card-1 cx88_alsa
alias sound-slot-1 cx88_alsa

which shall put cx88_alsa as second card, no ?
(yes, I have run modules-update so that's also in /etc/modules.conf)
