I don't see see how how the sampling theorem would directly apply to the act of displaying decoded video. Sure, the display output samples the decoded video on each refresh, but the decoded video that is being sampled by the display is only analogous to a square wave. So yes, there is some benefit to increasing the refresh rate, to reduce the impact of double frames, but I don't think there would be a hard requirement for the refresh to be twice the frequency of the input. |

I don't see see how how the sampling theorem would directly apply to the act of displaying decoded video. Sure, the display output samples the decoded video on each refresh, but the decoded video that is being sampled by the display is only analogous to a square wave.
