It works in ubuntu >=8.04. With ubuntu 8.04 it's detected as Walker Twin but the firmware is correctly loaded because the integrated are the same but instead 2x philips the zappa have only one. Then appear adapter0 and adapter1 in dvb devices, with kaffeine then only 0 is shown and with MythTV both are shown but when selecting 1 insted of detectind as Philips TDA10046 tunner it says unkown error. When scanning channels with kaffeine snr is at 100% practicaly all the time. When the scanning is finished all the channels in my region has been detected and then it work perfect. |

Latest revision as of 12:08, 6 October 2009
A dual DVB-T USB Receiver from LifeView.
It is supported (for further information see below).
Components Used:
Contains 2 tuners and 2 demodulators, and 1 remote control.
- NXP/Philips 8275AC1 (tuner)
- NXP/Philips TDA10046A (demodulator)
- ULi M9206 (USB bridge)
The M9206 chip handles two demodulators and two tuners. There is also an IR receiver which is presumably controlled by the M9206. Note: This device's USB cable comes with 2 USB plugs. This is not one plug per tuner; plug in both of them together to supply adequate power to the device.
The demodulators are located at 7-bit i2c addresses 0x08 and 0x0b. The tuners are located at 7-bit i2c addresses 0x60 and 0x61.
Subsystem information:
USB id: 10fd:0514 (cold - before firmware download) USB id: 10fd:0513 (warm - after firmware download)
Status
Supported and mostly working. Things which work include:
- Device is recognised and two tuners and two demodulators are attached. With the latest driver both tuners are working fine
- Can play video streams using Kaffeine
- Remote control initialisation and codes have been determined
Things which may not work include:
- "scan" only finds some transponders (for Nick Andrew, at least)
- Have not successfully used dvbstream yet (though, may be the result of incorrect settings)
Driver
This device works almost out-of-the-box if you have a sufficiently recent linux kernel.
- Support for this device (both tuners) is the mainline Linux kernel since 2.6.23
- Support for this device (1 tuner only) is in the mainline Linux kernel since 2.6.22
- You can use the v4l repository from linuxtv.org for more recent changes (if any)
- Work in progress occurs in the m920x experimental tree from http://linuxtv.org/hg/~aapot/m920x
- Go to http://linuxtv.org/repo/ and follow the instructions for building the modules and installing
Firmware
You will need to get firmware:
- firmware dvb-usb-tvwalkert.fw from http://www.nick-andrew.net/LifeView/
