MHEG-5 (or ISO/IEC 13522-5) is a standard, created by the Multimedia and Hypermedia Experts Group (MHEG), related to the presentation of multimedia information contained in interactive Digital TV services.
The MHEG-5 language has been adopted for use in Digital TV services in a few countries (United Kingdom, New Zealand,...). For example, NZ has chosen to use a MHEG data stream to carry all EPG information, rather then using EIT, within their DVB-T transmissions. An MHEG data stream uses a PID of type 0x07, and should be detected as such by either of the frequency scanning utilities included within the LinuxTV dvb-apps.
