Brooktree Corporation, founded in 1983, was an American semiconductor company that specialized in the design of digital-to-analog converters intended for video applications. Two chips of particular note were the BT848 and BT878 PCI interface chipsets.
Brooktree was purchased by Rockwell Semiconductors, a division of Rockwell International, in September 1996. In January 1999, Rockwell spun off its semiconductor division, with the resultant independent entity launching as Conexant Systems, Inc..
