In 2001, Mitel sold both its PBX business division and corporate name. The remaining part of the original company was then renamed Zarlink Semiconductor.

Zarlink produced several tuner PLLs (e.g. ZL10036, ZL10038, ZL10039) and demodulators (e.g. MT312, MT352, ZL10312, ZL10313, ZL10353), as well as some chips formerly sold under the Mitel banner, that are commonly found in DVB PC hardware.

The specifications for Zarlink ICs were usually freely available. Consequently, these chips are typically well supported under Linux.

In October 2005, Zarlink sold its RF Front-End technology (TV tuner and demodulator) business line to Intel. Intel has incorporated the Zarlink products into its Demodulator and Tuner Division (DTD), and they are now marketed under new part numbers. See Intel.
