Digital TV or Digital Video Broadcasting, is a set of standards for the transmission of digital video and audio.

DVB consists of data packets, which carry MPEG2 coded video/audio and EPG combined with other payload encapsulated in MPEG2 Transport Streams. Depending on the transmission path there a different kinds of Digital TV, which are using different Modulation Schemes, frequencies, transmission parameters and are optimized for different transmission networks and target devices.

DVB-S (Digital Broadcasting over Satellite)

DVB-C (Digital Broadcasting over Cable Networks)

DVB-T (Digital Broadctworks, e.g. mobile phones. Sometimes called DVB-N like Nokia ;) - )

ATSC (The U.S. standard for Digital Broadcasting over Terrestrial Networks)
