GeeXboX is a standalone Linux distribution that can be used as a dedicated Media Center. It uses MPlayer to :

  • listen to music
  • watch movies
  • plays CDDA / VCD / DVD
  • play streams from V4L2 compliant analog TV cards and DVB cards (PCI/USB, DVB-S/DVB-T/DVB-C)
  • play network (NFS / Samba / UPnP) shares
  • too many other things ...
