Microsoft does not provide any codec for MPEG2, therefore Media
Player cannot play it. I own a ATI All-in-Wonder VGA Card and bundled
with it, i got the ATI DVD-Player which comes with DirectVideo-compatible
filters/codec for MPEG2, so i can play MPEG2 in Media Player. Several
other Software DVD players for Windows also uses DirectVideo-compatible
filters.

You will need to get one to be able to play MPEG2.
