okay, you're right with dvdplayer-0.2: It exits if css_init() fails.
dvdplayer-0.01 did not check the return value of css_init(), however (just
looking at the sources).

But dvdplayer-0.2 can playback DVDs without encryption - just leave out the -c
flag.
