As far as I can tell the problems happen when _replaying_.
Whenever I have a sound loss or picture disturbance and rewind a little
to replay that sequence again (well, when the sound is comletely lost
I have to stop and restart), everything ist just fine. That would indicate
that the recorded data is basicly error free (just the multiplexing might
need a lottle improvement, I guess).

The recording problems I have reported recently (distortions on AV-out while
recording from specific channels and with specific broadcasts) apparently only happen 
on my system, they haven't been confirmed by anybody else yet. The strange this
is just that I haven't had that sort of problems before (at least not that I
recall).
