[linux-dvb] Driver bug or bad LNB?

Hello,

I have a (or more than one) problem and I don't know where to
locate it. I have SuSe Linux 7.0, 2.4.3 kernel, 0.9 driver.

It goes like this. Untill yesterday I had one regular LNB on my
satellite antena dish pointed towards Astra. I had 4 Nova's
installed on my linux box, and as long as I tryied recording
channels from the same transponder, it worked fine.

Since yesterdey I have a quattro LNB (that is an LNB with 4
outputs, but you know that) and nothing is working. The
satellite is still Astra.

You might say it's the LNB but let me explain. First, I tested
the LNB's with a digital receiver and it works perfectly.
Second, the behaviour of my program transformed into a
totally random one.

When I tested at the beggining the new LNB, none of those 4
Nova's was being able to lock. Then I tried to unload and
reload the drivers again and again. The surprising thing
happened after a couple of hours, that all 4 Nova's worked
at some point.

This morning again nothing worked. So I looked at it from
a different angle. I took out 3 of the cards, then with the
remaining I changed it from one PCI slot to the other but I
have the same behaviour: if I unload and reload the drivers,
sometimes it works, some other times not.

Now I put back all 4 o them, and the results are the same. I
load the driver, nothing works. I reload it again nothing. Then
sometime 2 cards work, other times 1, other times 3, 0, 4 and
so on.

Remember, that when I say "work" I mean "lock on a specific
channel". And yes, I have tried all kinds of different channels
from different transponders.

The question now. Because before yesterday I had no such
problems I can think that it's the LNB's fault. But because
sometimes it works (and the digital rec. works fine) I might
think that the drivers have a bug (reloading them sometimes
makes things work).

Is it the driver or the LNB? Have the drivers ever been tested
with 4 Nova's and working, or not?
