[linux-dvb] New UK DVB-T broadcasts

Hello,

For UK DVB-T users - the 3 "ex-ITV Digital" multiplexes (B, C and D) are now
broadcasting using QAM 16, Code Rate 2/3.

At the moment, these multiplexes are either broadcasting test channels, or
nothing at all. For example, the Crystal Palace transmitter in London is
broadcasting a test channel on Multiplex B (the BBC's new multiplex), and
nothing on C and D..

The other 3 multiplexes (1, 2 and A) are still broadcasting using the old QAM
64, Code Rate 3/4 parameters. The latest rumours are that multiplex 1 (BBC)
will switch to QAM 16 sometime in October, but that multiplexes 2 and A will
remain at QAM 64 for the foreseeable future.

If my information is correct, QAM 16, Code Rate 2/3 gives a bandwidth of 18
Mbit/s, and QAM 64, Code Rate 3/4 gives 24 Mbit/s.

For VDR users, these changes mean that VDR needs patching to allow different
DVB-T parameters (at least QAM and Code Rate) on a channel by channel basis.

Regards,

Dave.
