[linux-dvb] WinTV Nova-s: No data from card

[sorry, I already posted this message today, but stupid as I am in reply to a
totally unrelated message. Please forgive me that I post it again now:]

Hi,

I have a Hauppauge Nova-s card and I don't get any stream data from it. I know
that someone already posted this problem, but the solution was not posted
(this was in January 2002). So please could someone give me a hint or point
me to further documentation ?

The status of my struggling is:

- under kernel 2.4.19, drivers 0.9.4 load

- using dvbtune with -i option , I can get XML transponder info containing the
service names etc. [example: dvbtune -f 10832000 -p h -s 22000 -i]

- I can tune to a channel and vpid/apid and it says:

soltari:~ # dvbtune -f 10832000 -p h -s 22000 -V 54 -A 57
tuning DVB-S to L-Band:1082000, Pol:H Srate=22000000, 22kHz=off
SEC BUS MODE: IDLE (0)
SEC VOLTAGE: 18 (4)
SEC CONT TONE: OFF
Getting frontend event
Received completion event
Event: Frequency: 10832000
        SymbolRate: 22000000
        FEC_inner: 0

Bit error rate: 0
Signal strength: 0
SNR: 0
FE_STATUS: FE_HAS_POWER FE_HAS_SIGNAL FE_HAS_LOCK FE_HAS_CARRIER
FE_HAS_VITERBI FE_HAS_SYNC
A/V/TT Filters set

which looks good, as I saw in the source what all this FE_HAS_x means. Only
the signal strength looks sad.

- BUT I DON't GET ANY DATA FROM THE CARD.

cat /dev/ost/dvr0 > file
results in an empty file, even if used with
ntuxzap -f dvbrc.astra -e
as described in a newsgroup posting.

Please, help me someone. I'm going to write a Nova tutorial the day I see a
moving picture on my linux box.

Thanks,

Markus
