[linux-dvb] Re: Panic when starting from cold (was: Re:Announcement: new saa7146 driver core for the av7110 dvb driver)

Just to further clarify some strange panicing.

I'm running 2.4.21-pre1 at the moment with the DVB drivers CVS 10th Dec
2002. All along I have had problems with the kernel panicing when
attempting to stream from my Nova-T and still do now.. however, I wonder
if people might want to try this.

insmod drivers
start streaming

will hang my system

insmod drivers
wait 2 or 3 minutes..
start streaming

Will stream fine and I will have no problems for a good few weeks (or
until I start playing around with other TV cards in my machine)

I don't seem much correlation between peoples' reports of when their
machine will and wont stream. So far, this is the only pattern Ive managed
to find for all occurences.. soft boots, cold boots.. really cold boots
(removing power cord from PC so ATX standby power is off too).. All these
conditions will still cause my machine to hang if I dont wait a few
minutes before using the card..

for all you people out there claiming its soft boots or warm boots,
perhaps you too could try this too!

Hope this helps
cp
