[linux-dvb] Re: AW: Re: DVB-RCS System

Now
Alexandre writes that we already has the system up and running?
I'm pretty sure we're alsmot the 1st ones in France having this setup. We have this for about 3 months now I think.
Can anyone enlighten me and the rest of the list?
@Alexandre: I think a link to what you purchased (equipment and / or
service) would be very interesting for the rest of us.
It's pretty expensive. We're a company. I'm not a home user. I think the linkstar is around 1000€. But the internet bandwith is hight speed (high ping of course), and is pretty much the same compared to a xDSL line. Only the hardware is expensive. But that's just echo I heard. I wasn't in charge of ordering/paying this. I'm just a user of this technology.

I think we'll have to wait and see what astra proposes for home users.

Betreff: [linux-dvb] Re: DVB-RCS System

I'm now the proud owner of a DVB-RCS (bi-directional) satellite

system..

is there any equipment (PCI cards for example) that I can use to

operate

this equipment?

I have bi-directional sat system also. This includes :

- 1 super antenna (with 200kg of blocks to hold it down)
- 1 super LNB (for sending)
- 1 normal LNB (for receive)
- 1 linkstar box (with : LNB in / LNB out / Ethernet)

So the 2 LNBs are connected to cables (of course), and goes into my
linkstar. Then my linkstar is connected to the network switch. And I
setup my computers on the network with the linkstar's IP address as the
gateway.

That's it. No need to have any DVB card. That's just like standard xDSL.
