as you can see, vdr allways opens /dev/video1 for grabbing, it is not
interested to what node the link points. this is for sure no problem
with vdr but with the driver. maybe your driver has no support for
video4linux like devices. this should be discussed on the dvb ML.

tell the nice guys there, what hardware you use and which drivers
(versions) you tried.

hope that helps ...

O.K., what's happend, where's ma problem?

I tried to grab a picture on my running vdr-1.1.21 with the svdrp command
GRAB:

bigchief@server:~> telnet vdr 2001

/var/log/messages reports:
Feb 7 16:29:54 vdr vdr[2609]: ERROR: /dev/video1: No such device
Feb 7 16:30:10 vdr vdr[2609]: ERROR: /dev/video1: No such device

How, the following command reports, there exists those devices, or not?
vdr:~ # ls -alF /dev/video*
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            6 Jan 25 11:46 /dev/video -> video0
crw-rw-rw- 1 root video 81, 0 Sep 9 22:25 /dev/video0
crw-rw-rw- 1 root video 81, 1 Sep 9 22:25 /dev/video1
crw-rw---- 1 root root 171, 16 Sep 9 22:25 /dev/video1394
crw-rw-rw- 1 root video 81, 2 Sep 9 22:25 /dev/video2
crw-rw-rw- 1 root video 81, 3 Sep 9 22:25 /dev/video3

Clemens Kirchgatterer meant, that my driver has no support for
video4linux like devices? Isn't it so?

BTW, I'm using SuSE 8.1 Kernel 2.4.19 ("Duron")

Maybe someone can help me ...
