[linux-dvb] WinTV Nova-T PCI, debian novice
First, I regret to inform you that, I don't really know what I'm playing at,
but I enjoy the journey. I'm using a WinTV Nova-T PCI and wish to watch
Freeview from the Oxford transmitter.
I tried the following on a clean installation of Debian Woody.
I installed the stable packages;
dvb-mpegtools_0.9.4.20020321-1_i386.deb
dvb-dev_0.9.4.20020321-1_i386.deb
and
dvb-driver-source_0.9.4.20020321-1_i386.deb
from which I built and installed
dvb-driver-2.4.18-bf2.4_0.9.4.20020321-1_i386.deb.
All went well and "modprobe dvb" installs a bunch of modules without errors.
Hooray!
Next I installed the testing packages;
dvbtune_0.3-2_i386.deb
dvbstream_0.4pre2-1_i386.deb.
I tried to get the BBC channels with;
robert@Watkins:~$ dvbtune -c 0 -f 578000000 -i
tuning DVB-T to 578000000
Getting frontend event
Received failure event
and that's all I got.
I try streaming BBC1 to stdout;
robert@Watkins:~$ dvbstream -f 578000000 -c 0 -a 600 -v 601 -ps -o
dvbstream v0.4pre1 - (C) Dave Chapman 2001
Released under the GPL.
Latest version available from http://www.linuxstb.org/

Nothing to read from fd_sdt
</transponder>
and here I give up.
Can I fix what I've got?
Is there a better set of packages to use with a nova-t in the uk?
(I have an irrational fear of the debian kernel sources.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards and Best Wishes,
Robert W.
