[linux-dvb] Nova-t working in Australia on UHF channels

Just to let everyone know. Mark Hawes (not a member of this list) has
now successfully captured a UHF DVB-T signal in Australia using the
linux drivers.

As far as I know he is the first to do so. Of note this does not work
with the windows drivers.

There are still some issues but basically things are looking good.

For those unfamiliar with Australian DVB: In the capital cities, where
the vast majority of people live, DVB channels have been allocated from
the VHF range. I think the (mistaken) reason for this was so people
would be able to use their existing antennas. (Mistaken, IMHO for two
reasons - 1) many existing antennas will need upgrading anyway and 2) in
many of the capitals people seem to us internal antennas for analogue
transmission anyway)

Within the capitals only one channel (SBS) is on UHF for both analogue
and digital transmissions.

In regional and rural Australia the DVB-T channels have been allocated
in the UHF range. It would seem likely that the Nova-T will work for
all these users.

People in the capitals may not be completely out of luck - in addition
to the one UHF channel they may be able to pick up a nearby regional
repeater transmitting in the UHF range. This is what Mark has done -
although he is located very close to a Melbourne transmitter he is
picking up the ABC from the Bendigo transmitter.

Thanks to Holger for his help getting this working.
