I did spot the dvb_bt8xx.o file in the build directory, so insmodded bt878.o and dvb_bt8xx.o, but got:

dvb-bt8xx.o: unresolved symbol bttv_get_i2c_adap
dvb-bt8xx.o: unresolved symbol bttv_get_pcidev_Re5c30938
dvb-bt8xx.o: unresolved symbol bttv_get_cardinfo_R48320158

you have to rebuild + install your patched kernel including the patched bttv driver before loading the DVB modules.
