Are you using a recent mplayer version? If not you might need to pipe 
the stream through ts2ps in order to create a program stream, old 
mplayer versions did not support transport streams directly.

In any case you might want to force the ffmpeg codec, some other MPEG 
decoders had bugs which caused random crashes with garbled streams which 
can occur at bad DVB-T receiption situations...
(don't know -- maybe they are fixed in the meantime - )

That would be fine, would you please write a README or HOWTO we can add 
to the dvb-kernel CVS?
