I tried with one 5MB file (head -5000k orig.mpg > cut.mpg). At the
beginning it has video ~1 sec ahead of audio (VPTS-APTS 1010ms).

dvb-mplex is no issue here, since it keeps the difference found in first
audio and video "frame" timestamps it is writing to remuxed audio and video
streams...

But both mjpegtools mplex and transcode tcmplex lost even the original
timestamp difference when used those to remultiplex the `es_demux'
separated stream -- if those cannot fix the timestamps at the beginning
(or the info was already lost), how could those fix the timestamps in the
part of recording where there is discontinuity ?

mencoder -ovc copy -oac copy -of mpeg cut.mpg greated file that
has no audio (well, they claim that is BETA CODE).

A (long) output of the tests I did is available at:

I hope to get lot of hits from people interested on the issue.
