Maybe! If you load dvb-core with parameter 'dvb_shutdown_timeout=0',
the problem is gone!

Obviously, the id register of the stv0299 cannot be read in standby
mode!
Hmmm, you are right -- for tuner modules that use non-default i2c timing values you have to rewrite this register before probing. Can you please test if this helps and prepare a patch?
