I'm really sorry, but I've been messing about with the filenames of the 
firmware for hotplugging of late.  First to confirm to the naming convention 
used in the other dvb drivers, and more recently to remove the version 
number.  From here on in, they shouldn't need to be changed, and are 
currently (only since last night, mind) called:

dvb-ttusb-dec-2000t.fw
dvb-ttusb-dec-3000s.fw

Note that I keep linux/Documentation/dvb/ttusb-dec.txt up-to-date with the 
details of these, so that's the best place to look.  However, I think Michael 
is trying the correct names for the version of the driver he is using.

If you discover you can reproduce this, please pipe the kernel messages 
through ksymoops and post the results to the list.

This really looks like a problem with the userspace side of the hotplug system 
to me.  See Stefan's comments.
