Ok, this has become a rather lengthy thread with several
pro and con votes. Since those who use this feature and don't
want to switch to RAID or something the like would loose an
important thing, removing this feature is apparently not an option.

I'll therefore keep it alive and will try to make it so
that recordings are kept together on a single disk as far
as possible.
