It implies no such thing :P In fact it implies that suddenly a FF card
would be able to do everything that a softdevice can do now. All that
needs to be done is to add a mpeg1 (or mpeg2 if your system is well
endowed) encode before the sink (the FF mpeg decoder in this case).
In fact by gstream'ising some of the components of VDR you would be
able to play any media type while still having seeking/cutting/whatever
controlled by VDR and the OSD fully available. I'm sure there are some
flaws in that idealistic vision but nothing that couldn't be overcome
with some thought.
